It was beautiful weather (yet again!) for the races of the Long Island Marathon Weekend, traditionally held during the first weekend of May. There are races for every level (marathon, half-marathon, 10K, 5K, 1-mile run, and a run for the kids), and there is open registration (unlike The New York City Marathon, with most participants selected by a lottery system).
I encourage everyone to mark this date on your calendar for next year, even if you've never run a race before (the first race I ever ran was a half-marathon a few years back). There is more than enough time to prepare, and you'll feel great and have a great time doing it.
